The month of August saw a plethora of activities along with well researched webinars, overflowing with a wealth of information being organised by the Social Science and Humanities department.
The students of classes 6 to 12 got an opportunity to showcase their talent through debates,speeches and powerpoint presentations taking us to our historical past and offering solutions to pressing social and environmental issues plaguing our country.
The Middle school organised numerous competitions, for classes 6 to 8 and notable among them was an Inter Class Quiz Competition on the National Movement of India which had about 145 participants from class 8.
There were presentations by teachers on Water Conservation;A Historical Perspective, Sustainable use of Resources and Rain water harvesting . Poster Making on the topic’ Air Pollution ‘by the students of class 6 left many impressed with their ingenuity. Siya Kapoor of 8- E took the initiative to show how drip irrigation is an important method to conserve water.
The Secondary classes also came up with many interesting and lively presentations, prominent among them being, Video presentation on Gender Inequality by 10 B, The Creation of Linguistic States and The Journey of the Political Map of India by 10E and 10 D. Also a pictorial presentation on the Unsung Heroes of Indian Freedom Struggle was prepared by Snehendu Batabyal of 9 A..
Samaira Sarin of 10 A did a powerpoint presentation on Communalism to sensitise the children on this delicate issue.
A very stimulating event, ‘Lend Me Your Ears’ was organised by the Senior Wing in which the children had to pick a speech from history and record themselves delivering it..Another thought – provoking activity was an Interview with an octogenarian, Gurdip kaur, who had witnessed the tragic partition of our country and shared her experience of the trauma faced in August 1947..
A Talk on China- It’s Role in Global Politics was shown in the form of a powerpoint presentation to give the children a wider perspective and better understanding of world politics and China.
