Independence Day was celebrated with much nationalistic fervour in G. D. Goenka Public School, Vasant Kunj, on Wednesday, August 14, 2019. The special assembly commenced with the unfurling of the national flag by Principal, Ms. Meenakshi Bhakuni. The walls of the school echoed with sonorous singing of the national anthem.
A melodious rendition of patriotic songs was presented by the students of middle school and then senior school under the auspice of the Indian Music Department. Ms Bindu Kaul, teacher of Hindi, spoke about the significance of this day.
The students of the dramatic society of the school, “Natrang”, performed a playlet “Gandhi – the Untold Story” depicting the memorable scenes from the life and times of Gandhi. The lithe dancers of Western Dance Activity expressed different shades of struggle for independence through graceful moves. The Principal’s words of wisdom emphasized the unenviable contribution children can make in nation building. The school premises reverberated with the children cheering “Jai Hind” with Ms Swadesh Kumar, Head of Events and Planning.
