Independence Day was celebrated with much nationalistic fervour in G. D. Goenka Public School, Vasant Kunj, on Tuesday, August 14, 2018. Vice Head Girl, Sejal Goyal, commenced the special assembly by welcoming everyone which was followed by the unfurling of the national flag by Principal, Mr. Sanjay Yadav. With colourful balloons rising in the sky, the walls of the school echoed with sonorous singing of the national anthem. A melodious medley of patriotic songs was presented by the Indian Music Department. Head Girl, Zoya S. Kumar, spoke about the significance of this day. The performances by children of Yoga Deptt left everyone spellbound. Activity In-charge, Ms Anisha Talwar, introduced the children to the newly found dramatic society, “Natrang”, which then presented its first performance, “The Journey of Chandarshekhar Azad”. The special assembly ended with Principal’s words of wisdom emphasizing the unenviable role children can perform in nation building.
