G D Goenka Public School, Vasant Kunj, New Delhi organised a three day educational cum cultural tour to Amritsar for the students of classes XI and XII from October 21 till October 23, 2018.
After having checked in at Hyatt Regency, Amritsar and a sumptuous lunch, the group made a visit to Gobindgarh Fort for a glittering Light and Sound Show depicting the history of Amritsar. Day2 of the visit commenced with a visit to the holiest Gurudwara and the most important pilgrimage site of Sikhism, Golden Temple. After the darshan, the students had the opportunity to taste the delectable lunch at the Langar. This was followed by a visit to Jalianwala Bagh where the children learnt about the Jalianwala Bagh massacre that took place in 1919 and sufferings of Indians before independence. Later in the evening the children attended the Wagah Border Ceremony, a military practice that the security forces of India and Pakistan have jointly followed everyday since 1959. On the last day a visit to Sada Pind helped the children learn about the heritage and culture of Punjab and enjoy traditional Punjabi cuisine for lunch.
The tour terminated with a memorable and fun-filled journey back to Delhi by Shatabdi Express.
