“Success is not a big step taken in the future; success is a small step taken right now.” With his mind set on these words, Ronit Gupta of Class XII created a project work during the pandemic when the online classes were going on. It was during an online class that he was struck by the idea of creating a platform to enable the artists to have a direct access to the buyers and also help them establish themselves as professionals.

Learning about “vocal for local”, he gave this idea a serious thought and soon created a website “Best Guide”, to connect the artists with the buyers and conduct non-profit competition on his e-commerce website. He discussed the idea with his Business Studies Teacher, Ms Jyoti Sharma, who guided him in creating ‘Best Guide’ website. Ronit’s parents actively discussed the pros and cons with the teacher Mrs Jyoti Sharma and with the HOD Mrs Mukti Suhag and with the encouragement of the Principal, Ms Meenakshi Bhakuni, they decided to support their son in his venture.

At the nascent stage, the young boy created many questionnaires to examine the feasibility and viability of the idea. The response of the survey was brilliant which reiterated that he was on the right track. Using the knowledge gained from his business studies book, Ronit applied the idea and created his website with the lowest possible cost. Despite the delay caused by his unit tests of Class-XII, he was able to launch his website successfully with 37 artists and 45 artworks registered in the very first month.

Soon the website caught the attention of many. 39 artworks have already been sold through this website. Currently, 198 artworks and 183 artists are registered on his website. The next plan is to expand the website and host competitions in order to promote artists, award them with certificates of
credibility and support them with grants.

Ronit stands as an example of a student who has not only excelled in academics, but using the guidance of his teachers and parents, also applied his academic knowledge practically.
