To commemorate the 25th year of the raising of G. D. Goenka Public School, as a part of the silver jubilee celebrations, a stage musical, “Mary Poppins” was presented at Siri Fort Auditorium on December 12, 2019.
The Chief Guest for the occasion was Prof. (Dr.) Ranbir Singh, Vice-Chancellor, National Law University, Delhi. Citing many examples like that of Silicon Valley and Cyprus, he emphasized the role of Indian brains in global progress which he attributed to the quality education provided by the finest educational institutes like G. D. Goenka Public School. The august gathering included parents of the students. The Principal, Ms Meenakshi Bhakuni, assured the parents of the dedication of her team that the parents have entrusted their children to. She stressed upon the importance of inculcating accountability as a character trait in the future citizens of the world. The Vice Principal, Mr. Rajender Shah presented the annual report of the school, listing with pride the achievements of the Goenkans at the national and international level.
Ganesh Vandana was recited to invoke the blessings of the Almighty.
Through “Mary Poppins” the budding actors and lissome dancers enthralled the audience with compelling performances. Priyanka stood out as the lead performer. The spectacular show was complemented by lilting music and lighting effects. Elaborate costumes added a lot of colour to the stage.
The grand show concluded with a vote of thanks by the Vice Head Boy, Chirag Nagpal.
Vice Chairperson, Ms Renu Goenka, congratulated the school for the amazing performances. Mr. Nipun Goenka, Managing Director, motivated and praised the children and teachers for the dedication with which they had worked for the event. The painstaking effort to detail by Ms Anisha Talwar, Head of Activities and Sports, was appreciated by one and all. The grandeur of the show left the audience spellbound.
