Edfinity organized an online class – Close Reading 101 Sonnet 18 by Shakespeare – for the students of class 10. The class introduced the students to ‘close reading’, a critical reading strategy that teaches learners to analyze a text rigorously in order to extract the maximum meaning from it. The class was conducted from California by David who was able to hold a very interactive session wherein he helped the students to understand and appreciate Shakespeare’s Sonnet 18, ‘Shall I Compare Thee To A Summer’s Day?’. The excited students listened with rapt attention as David held them spell bound. They were able to ask intelligent questions and answer the teacher’s queries with confidence. The students enjoyed the class and expressed their desire to participate in more such sessions where they can gain knowledge beyond their prescribed texts.
