The Institute of Road Traffic Education (IRTE) in partnership with the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, Government of India and in association with the School of Planning and Architecture, Delhi organised a two day workshop to develop a draft policy for the safety of transporting school children in all modes of transport. The workshop was held on April 29, 2019 at India Habitat Centre, New Delhi.
The students of G. D. Goenka Public School, Vasant Kunj, New Delhi, were given an opportunity to invoke the workshop both with the national anthem and the specially composed Road Traffic Song in front of national and international dignitaries from all over the globe.
Twenty students and three teachers attended the seminar on road safety of school going students. The Goenkans had an opportunity to sing along with an ex-Goenkan, Sumer Bhatia, who led the song. The event commenced with the Goenkans singing the national anthem followed by the eagerly awaited song on traffic. It was an absolutely amazing and mesmerizing performance, highly appreciated by one and all. The Director of Indian Road Traffic Education, IRTE, Dr. Rohit Baluja applauded the performance of the students of G. D. Goenka Public School and announced that they would be sending this song to the higher authorities to promote it as the national song in order to promote awareness all over India. It was a matter of privilege and pride for the Goenkans to perform on this high a platform.
