The Pramerica Spirit of Community Awards is the largest worldwide youth recognition programme for social service based in the United States of America.
This year there were 4,000 applicants from over 200 schools from India, alone.
Zoya S. Kumar of class 12-C was awarded a silver medal for her extraordinary efforts in the area of community service-
She has an SHG of 85 women who are unable to leave their homes in search of work due to small children, old age or disability. She collects work from factories for them so that they can become financially independent. Zoya also teaches English, Mathematics and self-defense at slum schools all over Delhi as well as dance to the underprivileged at the Drishtikon Dance Foundation. She also volunteers at a house for 21 differently-abled girls. She runs her own pet adoption agency for unwanted and abandoned dogs. Her association with the SW Memorial Free Dispensary is long standing.
The bronze awardees were Dikshita Khullar, Anaika Mehra and Dhriti Swarup.
