ULHAS KS – RISING BASKETBALL STAR ON GLOBAL SCENE
The alumni of GDGPSVK constantly bring glory to their alma mater!! Ulhas KS, alumnus of batch 2016, began his journey of basketball on the grounds of GDGPSVK, rose to be the “Most Valuable Player” of Gayatri Devi Tournament in Class12, carried the skill learnt in school to the international arena and shot to sports stardom.
Ulhas played Under-19 School and Open Nationals for Delhi State Team – his teams securing a gold and a bronze medal respectively in 2016. The same year he joined University of Westminster in London and made a place for himself in the basketball team, becoming the first player of Indian origin to play basketball at college level in the UK.
By the second year Ulhas had already risen to be the Captain, leading his team to the first ever championship in the history of University of Westminster. In 2019, in his third year, he played England National Basketball League – the highest league in the UK.
In 2021 he signed for Team Gloria in Moldovan National League Division-1 in Europe, becoming the first Indian to play professional basketball in Europe and also leading Gloria to their first ever medal in the history of the league.
In 2022, Ulhas was selected for the Senior Indian National Basketball Camp and soon made it to the Indian National Team, representing the country in the FIBA World Cup Qualifier.
Of millions of basketball aspirants, only twelve make it to the Senior Indian National Team and Ulhas stands there tall and rising!!
