G D Goenka Public School, Vasant Kunj, firmly believes in nurturing and fostering students’ talent through their annual venture, GOENKAN GRANDEUR, a festival of dance, music and colour. The 10th Gayatri Devi Goenka Memorial Cultural Festival, GOENKAN GRANDEUR 2018, was organized from the 25th of July to the 27th of July 2018 and the event witnessed active participation from several leading schools across Delhi and the N.C.R.

This cultural odyssey channelized the energies of ebullient and talented learners to take the shape of a spectacular extravaganza. The Inaugural ceremony of GOENKAN GRANDEUR began with the auspicious lighting of the ceremonial lamp after which the mellifluous Goenkan singers presented a song.

The honourable Principal, Mr.Sanjay Yadav, declared the cultural meet open. He advised the students “to display their talent with gay abandon without worrying about success or failure”. The Vice Principal, Mrs.Swadesh Kumar motivated the students and the teachers alike to strive for perfection and give their very best.
The enthralling three day talent festival culminated with a dazzling Valedictory Ceremony where the winners were felicitated with trophies and certificates. The graceful and lissom dancers of G D Goenka Public School, Vasant Kunj, presented a beautiful contemporary dance performance – the Dance of Dragons- on this occasion.

The resounding success of this enjoyable event rests upon the dedication of the students and the faculty of G D Goenka, especially the Activity Department, who worked diligently with great fervour under the able guidance of their Principal, Mr Sanjay Yadav and Vice Principal, Mrs Swadesh Kumar.

English Literary Event (Inter-School English Elocution Contest)

Under the aegis of English Department of G. D. Goenka Public School, Vasant Kunj, New Delhi, an Inter-School English Elocution Contest was organised on the second day of Tenth Gayatri Devi Goenkan Memorial Cultural Festival, “Goenkan Grandeur” 2018.

The day began with the registration of the participants followed by delicious breakfast in the cafeteria. All the participants, thereafter, assembled in the auditorium. Principal, Mr Sanjay Yadav and Vice Principal, Mrs Swadesh Kumar gave their blessings to the participants. Master of Ceremony, Ms Meeru Pande, welcomed the guests.

Activity Incharge, Ms Anisha Talwar, drew the lots and encouraged the children to give their best. The judges, renowned academician and writer, Dr Anu Aneja, and popular Principal of Modern School, Ms Goldy Malhotra, were introduced to the audience. Twenty four participants from twelve schools created magic with their words through extremely interesting pieces and highly impressive elocution. They were judged on Clarity, Expression, Voice Modulation, Choice of Piece, Diction and Performance. The team of G.D.Goenka Public School, Indore won the third prize. Delhi Public School, Vasant Kunj, New Delhi was the runner-up team and the team of G.D.Goenka Public School, Vasant Kunj, New Delhi emerged as the winner. Rahul Ranveer Shah of G.D.Goenka Public School, Vasant Kunj was declared the best speaker and the judges felicitated him for his heart-rending rendition. Soumya of Delhi Public School, Vasant Kunj was declared the runner up. The Principal congratulated the English Department and Head of English Department, Ms Rohina Shah, for the successful concept.

The winners were awarded by Principal, Mr. Sanjay Yadav, Vice Principal, Ms Swadesh Kumar and Vice Principal Academics, Mr. Rajinder Shah. Tirelessly working behind the scene, Activity Incharge, Ms Anisha Talwar, ensured flawless conduct of the event. The highly competitive elocution contest ended with a lip smacking lunch in the cafeteria.
