The second day of Gayatri Devi Goenkan Memorial Cultural Festival, “Goenkan Grandeur” 2016 culminated successfully today. The two events held were Inter-School Indian Classical Dance Competition, “Samagam” and Inter-School English Debate Competition.

English Debate

The Department of English conducted an Inter School Debate on the 28th of April where an impressive range of views were exchanged.

13 prominent Schools of the NCR participated in the Debate where the topic was “India, an Economic Super Power!  Myth or Reality?”

An eminent panel of judges which included Mr. Arindam  Mukherjee, Ms. Amrita Ajay and Ms. Devangana Jha gave their expert opinions on the topic and advised the young speakers. A debate at school level encourages to raise awareness, broaden horizons, inspire debate and inculcate values that are sterling in quality. The debators were well researched and confident of their stand. The Winning Team was from the host school, G. D. Goenka Public School Vasant Kunj, the 2nd position was bagged by Modern School Barakhamba Road and the third prize was won by G. D. Goenka World School Sohna Road Gurgaon.

The members of the winning team were: Ved  Marwah  Mahi S. Kumar and  Nishtha Jindal

Ved Marwah was adjudged the Best Speaker.
