Devina Saxena of class 10-D initiated and carried out the “Breaking the Stigma” campaign which aimed to raise awareness and funds for impoverished menstruating school girls through an NGO, so that they can live a dignified life and continue to receive higher education in a self-assured and graceful way, and do not have to drop out of school. A total of INR 4,10,844/- was raised.
“In most underprivileged areas in India, every time a girl gets a period, it is filled with confusion, discomfort and unfortunately shame which is absolutely not the way it should be. Hence I believe educating/ talking about menstrual hygiene and helping out is an important responsibility of everyone’s life…be it a person of any gender.” – this is what she said when asked about the campaign.
Devina says, “It’s 2021, Let’s talk about periods. Let’s do our bit.”
